For most US shoppers, the best custom canvas prints online depend on whether you already have an image, need an unusual size, or want help creating artwork. Shutterfly and Mpix focus on photo uploads; Easy Canvas Prints lists custom dimensions; Canvas Discount offers several edge and frame choices. CanvasGenie starts with a written idea or photo reference and generates artwork. Canvaspop's current product options could not be confirmed during this check.
Which canvas print service fits your project?
This is a use-case guide based on the companies' public pages, checked October 14, 2026.
| Service | Best for | What its official page currently describes | Check before ordering |
|---|---|---|---|
| Canvaspop | Reviewing Canvaspop's historical large-format offering | Its 2021 large-art guide describes photo canvases up to 40 × 72 inches and custom oversized options. | Its homepage and product pages did not load in this check, so current sizes and availability are unconfirmed. |
| Shutterfly | Personalizing an uploaded photo with templates, text, or a collage | Shutterfly describes photo uploads, gallery-wrapped and framed canvases, and design templates and layouts. Sizes vary by product. | Check the chosen design's size and frame selector. Production and delivery estimates depend on the item and shipping method. |
| Easy Canvas Prints | Finding a less common canvas dimension | Easy Canvas Prints lists custom sizes up to 44 × 60 inches and offers custom framing. | Confirm the exact size, frame, and current cart total. Its displayed pricing excludes shipping. |
| Canvas Discount | Choosing an edge treatment or optional floating frame | Canvas Discount lists more than 20 canvas sizes, several printed edge styles, two stretcher depths, and optional floating frames. | Check which edge and outer-frame choices are available for your selected dimensions. |
| Mpix | Comparing published photo sizes and hanging hardware | Mpix describes uploading a photo, lists canvas sizes from 8 × 10 to 40 × 60 inches, and offers hanging hardware that varies by size plus optional float framing. | Check the hardware and frame details for the exact size; Mpix lists its processing time separately from shipping. |
| CanvasGenie | Creating new artwork from a prompt or photo reference | CanvasGenie generates artwork from a written idea or an optional photo reference. The photo guides an interpretation, not an unchanged photo print. Canvas and frame options come from the live product catalog. | CanvasGenie fulfills its canvas orders through Printful. US production options are available, with automatic order routing, so the facility can vary. Review the generated art and mockup before choosing a size. |
The right fit depends on your artwork and dimensions. If you already have a finished photo, compare the crop and edge preview before paying. If you need a precise size, check the live selector rather than relying on a general size list.
What should you compare before ordering?
Start with the artwork and final dimensions. A canvas size describes the face of the finished print, but the image may need cropping or wrapping around the edges. Preview the result and make sure important details stay on the front. For room planning, use the canvas size guide.
Then compare the finishing choices. A gallery wrap shows the printed edges; a frame adds a border around the canvas. Some services offer more than one edge treatment, frame color, or hanging method. Those options can vary by size, so read the exact product page before placing the order.
For a cost comparison, use the same dimensions, frame style, shipping destination, and order date. Prices and promotions change, and shipping or tax can alter the checkout total. The services above do not all publish the same information in the same format, so this guide leaves out price claims.
When does CanvasGenie make sense?
CanvasGenie is for people who want to create the artwork as part of ordering a canvas. Describe an idea, or upload a reference photo and describe the style you want. The generated image is an interpretation of that photo, not a direct print of the file. Review the artwork before selecting a product.
CanvasGenie fulfills its canvas orders through Printful. US production options are available, and Printful automatically routes each order based on product availability, printing method, destination, and facility capacity, so the facility can vary. Compare gallery-wrapped canvas options with framed canvas options; the product tables show sizes and estimates from the live catalog, while checkout confirms the current selection and total.
If you already have a photo, see the Canvaspop and Mpix comparison or Mpix and Shutterfly comparison. If you want to make art from a prompt or reference, visit AI canvas prints to see how the creation flow works.
Sources and limits
CanvasGenie is our product, and this guide compares it with the other services by use case. We did not order samples; vendor details are attributed to their public pages. Canvaspop's 2021 guide describes a past size range, but its current product pages were unavailable, so those sizes are not presented as a confirmed current offer.
Frequently asked questions
Which custom canvas print company is best for my photo?
Choose by the details you want to control. Compare the size selector, crop preview, edge treatment, frame choices, and final checkout total for the same image and dimensions.
Can CanvasGenie print my uploaded photo unchanged?
No. CanvasGenie uses an uploaded photo as a reference for new artwork. The result is an artistic interpretation, so review it before choosing a canvas.
Where can I order a canvas in a custom size?
Easy Canvas Prints currently lists custom dimensions. Canvaspop described oversized options in a 2021 guide, but its current catalog could not be checked. Confirm the exact dimensions with each service before ordering.
Which canvas print service offers US production?
CanvasGenie fulfills its canvas orders through Printful. Printful offers US production options and routes orders automatically, so the facility for an individual order can vary.
Which service makes the best quality custom canvas prints?
The vendor pages list materials and print methods, but they do not provide a fair side-by-side print test. Product-page claims alone cannot establish a quality winner.
